Gavin Stuart

Dr. Gavin Stuart originally trained in Canada and the US, as a gynecologic oncologist and cared for women with gynecologic cancers in Alberta for 20 years before relocating to Vancouver and UBC. At UBC, he served as a Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Vice-Provost Health for more than 15 years. He now works as a member of the gynecologic surgical oncology team at VGH and BC Cancer as well as participating in the GCSPC. He continues to serve as an educator, researcher and leader in our BC environment. He is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.

 He has published books on cancer prevention, clinical trials, and, most recently, the history of the UBC Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Stuart remains an active teacher, clinician, and researcher. He brings a wealth of knowledge about cancer survivorship and is training as a certified menopause practitioner. He joined the Gynecologic Cancer Prevention and Survivorship Clinic in 2023.
